Ever since I was a child, I loved reading books. I was always inclined towards languages, history and psychology. I always wanted to do something in the creative writing field, and my dream started getting real when I joined Udgam.
I took admission in 11th std, Humanities stream in 2017. The range of subjects they offered were brilliant. My interests in English, History, and Psychology peaked here. It was a surreal experience to learn more about these subjects and so much in-depth. My languages sharpened and I developed a creative flair in my writing. The teachers have been extremely supportive of my dreams. Also, school’s holistic approach towards teaching helps us gain a lot more than just textual knowledge. My command over English strengthened at Udgam. Also, I learned storytelling at school which is helping me a lot in my career. Udgam surely gave me wings to fly!
It is here that I discovered Mass Communication as a field too. It clicked instantly and I knew it was my true calling. It has been a beautiful journey ever since. I enrolled in a mass communication college in Ahmedabad and found my beloved profession; that is, being a Copywriter.
I always had a flair for writing and the creative bug in me was super happy to discover this profession. I started interning when I was in 12th grade. I was a writer at a content organization and haven’t looked back ever since.
Post that, I interned at 4 other firms as a Content/Copywriter. I gained an in-depth knowledge about the content industry and experimented with various writing styles. It was during this time that I freelanced as a writer with some amazing companies such as, MakeMyTrip, Shakti Resorts, and Rawat Publications to name a few.
My big break as a Copywriter happened when I secured a job at Swiggy India. It was my first ever job at the age of 20 and everything just fell into place. I worked for the in-app copy at Swiggy. Everything that went out on the food vertical on the Swiggy App was worked on by me and the team. My first year in the corporate world was truly blissful.
It was after a year that I decided to take another leap when a promising opportunity knocked my door. After an exciting stint at Swiggy, I joined One Hand Clap. It is an advertising agency based in Mumbai. At this agency, I work with a varied clientele including Bumble India, Blanko, and Your Food Lab. I curate digital/social media copy for these brands and ideate campaigns as and when they come. It is indeed an intriguing job role.
Wherever I’m at today, I owe it to Udgam. The school polished my skills to the ultimate extent. It gave me a zillion opportunities to grow and become a better person altogether. I cannot thank my teachers enough for always being supportive. My class teacher, Vijayalakshmi ma’am made me fall in love with history and ma’am if you’re reading this, thank you so much.
