Turning Paper Waste into Hope 📚 on this Earth Day🌍- Grade XA (MS) and Interact Club of Udgam School.

In a meaningful initiative aligned with Earth Day celebrations and the Sustainable Development Goals, the Interact Club of Udgam School for Children, in collaboration with Grade XA students, led a comprehensive paper‑waste recycling awareness and collection drive across the school campus. With unwavering enthusiasm, Grade XA(MS) students along with Interactors reached out to all classes from Grade 1 to Grade 12, including IBCP, along with the admin and staffrooms, encouraging everyone to make even the smallest contribution. Old notebooks, waste magazines, old newspapers, and unused paper were collected, reinforcing the message that every effort counts when it comes to sustainability.

The collected paper waste will be handed over to Arham Yuva Seva Group, where it will be recycled into Pro‑notebooks. These notebooks will then be donated to underprivileged students and municipal schools, transforming waste into a valuable educational resource. More than just a collection drive, the campaign served as a powerful learning experience—sensitizing students to responsible consumption, recycling, and social responsibility. Through empathy‑driven action, the initiative demonstrated how young minds can actively contribute to environmental conservation while supporting education for all.

By turning awareness into action, the Interact Club of Udgam School and Grade X students truly celebrated Earth Day in its truest sense—by protecting the planet and empowering communities. The campaign stands as a testament to how young minds can drive impactful change for a greener and more inclusive future.

No Iron Day

It’s estimated that ironing a single pair of clothes is responsible for up to 200 grams of carbon emissions.

On earth day, nearly 15,000 Udgamverse Students + Parents + Alumni skipped the iron for one day and saved nearly 5000 KGs of carbon emissions in energy production.

No Iron Day was celebrated wearing crumpled clothes to school, office, home etc with the slogan no iron, no carbon in mind.

Bamboo Toothbrush Exchange

As part of the earth day initiative, we partnered with Arya Sanskriti, an organics store, to bring sustainable bamboo toothbrushes to our students.

The first toothbrush ever made is still somewhere in a landfill – majorly intact! Bamboo toothbrush have been around for a while but their popularity is still dependent on accessibility. You can get a plastic toothbrush at any convenience store.

We asked our students to bring their old toothbrush and in exchange they got a bamboo toothbrush only for Rs. 10.

We collected nearly 4000 old toothbrushes, and they will all go to ragpickers.

The proceeds from this initiative will be used in production of more bamboo toothbrushes that will be distributed in municipality schools.

Bamboo toothbrushes are not only eco-friendly, they are soft on gums, durable, cost effective, and approved by dentists.
