All the teachers were provided with laptops to enhance their teaching efficiency. The teachers will be trained with upgraded teaching techniques rather than the traditional chalk and talk method.The students will benefit with different teaching skills in the classroom.

Udgam children participated in an Essay competition held by Sri Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Centre, Ahmedabad. The competition was held in two groups, from our school children of 9th and 11th participated.

Khushee Tikamani from 11th won the first prize among all English medium students in Ahmedabad from group II. The prize was given by Swami Sarvasthandaji Maharaj from Ramkrishna Ashram, Rajkot.

Students of Class 11 science participated in an Inter- school Science Quiz held at Maharaja Agrasen Vidalaya on 19/1/10.

Prarthan Amin, Vishesh Kandhari and Abhimanyu Sheth won the third prize and Bronze medal with a certificate.

Students of class 11 got an idea of events held in IIT.  The students of IIT, Gandhinagar, organized the preliminary rounds 3 of their events for the upcoming BLITHCHRON to be held in their institute on 23rd and 24th of Jan. 2010.

The events were : ‘Ad-making’ in which they had to design an advertisement for an imaginary product.

The winners for this are :

‘Jobless’ in which they had to conduct mock interviews.

‘The Butler Did It’ in which the students had to  become detectives and solve a mystery.

The winners for this are : Darshini Parikh, Varnit Shah, Rajdeep Thakar, Ishaan Shah

The students not only performed well in all the events but also enjoyed a lot.

A new budding talent of Udgam…
Akanksha Bhan of 4th class serves to be the tennis champion, playing at the state level.She is currently ranked No1 in the Under-10 category in the State and also No.1 in the Under-12 category. She has started the year 2010 with a bang as she has captured the U-10 winner title in the first two tournaments of the year. First at AGETA ,Ahmedabad and second at NTC,Nadiad. She was also runner up in the U-14 category of the All India Tennis Association Talent series. So far she has won nearly 20 trophies. Akanksha started playing at the age of seven under the able tutelage of  one of the finest coaches of Ahmedabad,Mr.Shrimal Bhatt.Udgam wishes her best of luck for future endeavours.

Science of astronomy revealed hidden aspects of Universe at Udgam…
The children of Udgam were educated with beautiful observation of moon suspended in the blackness of space.Tanmaye Vyas, an amateur astronomer ( member of NASA-SOC) introduced it to students of classes 5th to 9th. They all enjoyed Lunar observation along with their parents.
Trivial facts like distances, diameters, temperature and other parameters of different celestial bodies turned out, a jaw dropping moments. And observation of the nearest neighbor became ladder for understanding other celestial bodies for all. An exhibition of solar system bodies in both English & Gujarati language gave further detail about the subject.

An Acne Awareness Camp by Ranbaxy Croslands was organised for 11th grade students at Udgam on 3rd December 09. .The awareness and the consultation was provided by Dr. Umesh Nihalani [ MBBS, MD (DVD) ] who serves as assistant professor at B.J. medical. The children took his consultation on how to deal with their individual acne problems.

An Orthodontic Diagnosis Camp for dental care was also organised by Mahadevia Oral Health Academy on 3rd December 09. It was held for students of standard 5th to 9th. The check up and consultation was given by the team of professional doctors to each child.

Tanisha Bhatt of Class IX has been facilitated for her painting “May Peace prevail on Earth’ by Peace Pals International as the ‘2009 Ambassador of Peace – India’.

Varsha Iyer of class 8 shines in the spelling bee…
She has brought laurels to the school by beating 29 contestants in the spelling bee Ahmedabad round and getting a prize money of Rs 20,000. She now will be participating in the Grand finale at Mumbai.

Udgam participated in Divya Bhaskar’s initiative of giving cloths to the needy. The children from 6th-9th classes brought woollens and were donated to two different places of Ahmedabad. Children with Principal M’am went to Blind girls school near Manav Mandir, Gurukul  and Visamo Kids Foundation , Bopal. They donated woollens to almost 200 girls studying at the blind school and others to the children of 5 to 17 years of age at Visamo.  Udgam believes in giving joy in any possible form to any strata of society .
