A Gujarati recitation competition was held for the students of Class V in the school auditorium. The participants recited beautiful poems in their mother tongue with aplomb. Among them the best were judged on the basis of some fixed parameters. The students who won positions are-

tudents of Class 3 performed skits to highlight the importance of safety in all spheres of life. This included role play in groups in which the children spoke to their classmates on safety issues. They even stressed on the importance of First Aid box. Traffic safety was also a topic and this included display of common road signs in the skit. Finally the students took an oath to follow safety rules in their homes, in school and on the road.

6th July, 2015 can be described in two simple words – energy and enthusiasm. Dance legend Mrs.Mallika Sarabhai was in our school today to pick out the best dancers from senior classes to perform in a dance which will part of a film!
Darpana Academy’s famous play Kadak Badshahi by Mrs. Mallika Sarabhai is going to be made into a feature film soon. For this purpose the group is selecting students from local schools to be a part of song and dance sequences in the film. Students from classes 9 to 12 were taught dance movements choreographed by Mr. Revanta Sarabhai which they thoroughly enjoyed. Among the enthusiastic dancers some were selected by none other than Mrs. Sarabhai for the final registration. The students danced with full vigour and although a handful made it to the registration desk, the excitement in the air was palpable with no traces of disappointment. To interact with Mrs. Sarabhai and dance to the steps of the famous song ‘Aapno Amdavad’ made the day for the students, regardless of whether they made it to the final list. And those who did…well, we are looking forward to watch them pirouette on the silver screen! Now with so many avenues for career opening up this could be a promising foray into the world of showbiz.

On 4th July 2015, the educators of 'Udgam School for Children' attended a 'Seminar on Epilepsy', conducted by the renowned paediatric-neurologist of Ahmedabad Dr. Siddharth Shah. The session rolled out touching upon the common symptoms of fainting and it's remedial measures. Dr Shah went on to elaborate about the symptomatic causes,remedial and the myths surrounding epilepsy,how in a way it is different from fainting, the way we all have grown up understanding.

Doctor went on to differentiate how Epilepsy is different from Fainting. While fainting is caused due to lack of oxygen in the brain, epilepsy or epileptic seizures is a result of disturbance(s) in the electrical activity of the brain.

In an activity to instill self-esteem among the children, an activity was carried out in Class 2 aptly named ‘I am Special’. Children were given cut outs and asked to write a sentence on why they consider themselves to be special. There is an amazing collection of responses and the variety is over-whelming. On our part, as teachers and parents, we need to continue nurturing their special qualities and boost their ego from time to time. Only when they are self-confident can we expect them to sail through life holding their heads high all the while.

Interclass Gujarati Poetry recitation was conducted for Class VI. Students were selected on the basis of preliminary round in the class. Students recited poems on various topics. Entire programme was compered in Gujarati. Students performed their best keeping all inhibitions aside.

As a part of the Environment Day celebrations students of Udgam School participated in a wide range of activities. The day began on a solemn note wherein the ways in which we are harming the environment were taken up alongwith the joint measures that need to be taken to save the planet. The celebration started with a pledge to save the environment in all possible ways. Soon the events began and students joined elocution, poster making, slogan creating, jingle creating, best out of waste and many such activities under the able guidance of their teachers. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activities especially being in a group and working together for a common goal, which is the essence of the school. No wonder even on a school holiday there were so many participants all agog to join in for the cause of the environment amidst some fun.

The Udgam School Annual Teachers Conference was held on 6th June 2015 in Courtyard Marriott. It was a day of motivation, learning, laughter and recognition. The program began early in the day and was attended by the School Trustees, Directors, Principal, Vice Principals and all teachers and staff. Mrs. Priti Sakhadeo, Supervisor of Middle School, was the anchor for the day and took the audience through the day’s events. The day began with the lighting of the lamp which was followed by a recap of the ‘Year that was’ by the school Executive Director Sri Manan Choksi. Next on agenda were the Plans for the Year presentation by teachers and staff of various sections of the school. The groups spoke at length about challenges and changes in education which they ably presented with PPTs. Eminent educationist Sri. Rajabhai Pathak and school trustee Sri Gautam Choksi inspired the teachers with their motivational talks. The next event involved plenty of laughter not without a fair quota of meaningful onslaughts by noted Gujarati Hasya Kavi Sri Sairam Dave. 
This was followed by a sumptuous lunch spread out with plenty of socializing and catching up among the teachers and staff who are just back from a month long vacation. The hour after lunch was an entertaining one with popular Radio Jockey Dhvanit who mesmerized the audience with his ever entertaining talk and songs. The main topic he spoke around was ‘How to engage the audience?’ and he is the right person to speak on this topic. This also helped teachers to pick out ways to keep the class an engaging one. 
Sri Manan Choksi then made a presentation which inspired the teachers to find solutions to problems they face at classroom level. Next was Employee Recognition and Motivation through awards to those who had proved themselves to be a shade better than their colleagues this year. 
This was indeed a day for the 350 strong teachers and staff of Udgam School who enjoyed a lavish quota of discussion, fun and food.
